If you all haven’t read the book ‘Born Confused‘ by Tanuja Desai Hidier, you’re missing out. Tanuja is one of the pioneers in writing South Asian characters in the U.S. Her story helped shape the vision I had for my career, and I’m sure it changed the viewpoint that many other South Asian writers had, too.
I was humbled when Tanuja asked me to participate in a series of articles that would be published by Brown Girl Magazine. The article was to celebrate the fifteenth birthday of ‘Born Confused.’ Brown Girl Magazine is a wonderful platform for South Asians, specifically those that grew up outside of India.
If you’d like to read my article, you can access it here. I hope that ‘My So-Called Bollywood Life’ helps inspire readers like ‘Born Confused’ inspired me.
